Artist's Comments

So for school we had to do our "pop art" project. Which would either consist of taking something small and making it huge, embiggen it if you will (like making a five foot big coke can), or "soft sculpture."

Since I can sew hats I opted for Soft Sculpture and embarked on a journey to recreate the human skeleton in plush. Every single bone is in that baby. And yes, that's my room!

I decided that it was Dwight Frye's skeleton, who played Renfield in the 1931 "Dracula," whom I am a huge fan of. (You can see my Dwight Frye drawings in the background by Robert Aragon). Dwight died of a heart attack, so I made the skeleton a heart with a band-aid on it.

It is around 5'6", even though in the picture it looks 6', I rose it on its stand a little bit. It is made up of close hanger wires and fleece I bought at Joanne's.

Took me a month.
